CHRISTMAS STOCKING KITS

 Santa Shopping with Kids

Santa shopping with kids when looking for Christmas stocking kit fillers can be stressful for all concerned but there is a way around the problem that suits everyone.

I often wondered at what age the kids would be before they started noticing the things in their Christmas stockings were the same as Mummy bought when we went shopping. I had a very observant son so I was always very careful of what he saw. My daughter was much more interested in what was happening with people around her so she was much easier to take on a Christmas shopping expedition.

I came to the conclusion that it was better for them if I was to leave the kids with a friend who also had young children and would like to have the favour returned. This way we both got free to do our Christmas shopping in peace and anonymity with no fear of the kids guessing before they had to know.

Today kids learn too quickly and it's such a shame once they lose the mystery and excitement of the fat man coming down a chimney with surprises for them.

Today my kids are in their thirties and both single but Christmas is a special time still for us and we practice playing Santa on each other which is very interesting when we run into each other around corners. But since the kids found out, we had two Christmases without a visit from Santa and we all found we missed him. So we started a family tradition of a box of Chocolates and a book beside each others bed on Christmas morning. Mind you, this has been extended to include more things in our Christmas stocking kits but we all know we can count on a book that we would like and a box of Choccies each Christmas morning.

The joy of being family together at Christmas time and the fun and laughter is something we all consider our most precious Christmas stocking gift of all.
